FAQ

  • Do you need to make an appointment to shop for a wedding dress?

While appointments are not required to shop at Chantal's Bridal, they are greatly appreciated and very much suggested. With an appointment, we can be sure to have a Bridal Consultant available to assist you and your party.

  •  My wedding is 3 months away, do all of your Bridal Gowns have to be ordered?

Don't panic! We carry dresses by several designers that have a very fast rush option. This means that a new gown can be ordered for you in any size and color in time for you to do any alterations before your wedding. Alternatively, there is always a sale at Chantal's. We have a huge selection of in store gowns on sale with great pricing available to purchase right off the rack.

  •  How long does it take to order a Wedding Dress? How about dresses for the Mothers and Bridesmaids?

Bridal Gowns across Canada take on average 6-8 months to arrive into the store after ordering. There are times that they can arrive earlier, but there are also instances when the designers take their full term. Because of this, Brides should be ordering their dress about 12 months before the wedding to allow for delivery, alterations and of course the peace of mind before the big day!

For special occasion dresses such as Bridesmaids and for the Mother's of the Bride and Groom, the delivery period ranges from about 3-5 months. The ideal time to order would be 6-8 months before.

  •  What do I do with my dress when it arrives?

Once your dress arrives, an email notification will be sent to you right away. The email will provide you with all of the information needed to determine what your next steps should be. You are welcome to pick up your dress at this time, however if you would like to wait until the alteration process or closer to the wedding, we will be more than happy to safely store your dress for you.

  • How do alterations work?

While most stores now send brides off to deal with alterations through a third party, Chantal's continues to offer this most important service in-house. We have an extremely knowledgeable and experienced alterations staff. Approximately three months before your wedding, we will have you meet one on one with one of our dressmakers. At this appointment, you must have the shoes and undergarments that you will wear with your dress on your big day. If your dress is a lace-up back, we recommend bringing someone with you to learn how to tie it. After your first fitting you will be given a date to return to try on your dress to ensure it is fitting properly after the alterations have been completed. Once the dress is fitting perfectly, we will book you for a pickup appointment where your dress will be steamed. Alterations are not included in the price of a dress and are due at time of pickup. Be prepared to store your gown out of the bag when you get it home as it will be pressed and ready to wear.

  • Should I bring my bridal party with me to my appointment?

Choosing your wedding gown will be one of your most important wedding planning decisions and is a wonderful and often emotional event for most brides. We truly feel it is a moment to be shared with close friends and family. We strongly recommend that you bring your mom or important support person with you to your appointment so that she does not miss out on the experience of finding your wedding gown. An ideal group size for a shopping appointment is around 2-3 people. Often, brides who choose to shop with a larger group find it very difficult to make their own decision when too many opinions are presented. Secondly, seating can be limited and on busy days many of your guests may end up standing through your appointment. We can accommodate groups much more easily on weekdays and even reserve a private area of the store just for you.

  • Do you allow photography in the store?

Once you have made a purchase, you are more than welcome to take pictures of your gown. Prior to purchase however, due to designer copyright protection, we have a strict no photography policy.

  • Do I need to book appointments for Bridal Party shopping?
Appointments are not required for bridesmaids or bridal party shopping. However, if you would like to work with a particular consultant or if you would like to reserve an area in the fitting room, you are welcome to phone and request that they set aside an appointment slot for you and your party.

Children under 10 are not allowed.
